The Law Of Attraction, The Higher Version Of Yourself, Something To Think About….

The Law Of Attraction suggests that the energy you put into the world is what you attract. Essentially having positive thoughts (believing in yourself) will attract what you want. Negative thoughts (not believing in yourself) will keep you from what you want. Whether or not this law is taken with a grain of salt or as the bible is up to you. Personally I think there is some truth in it, and it is connected to existing as the highest version of yourself.

We as individuals put energy out into the world. If we are kind to someone else, we are more likely to have a positive interaction with that person compared to if we are rude. This is because the energy we put out affects each other. When I went on my solo trip, I arrived in London after 24 hours of travelling. Only to find out my flight to Athens was cancelled. I was tired, anxious, hungry, jet-lagged, and majorly in need of a shower. It was not pretty. However, I decided in that moment to sit in my grace. The only thing I could control was how I acted. I asked the man at the counter about my flight and he quickly helped by setting up accommodation for the night, food and transport. His kindness and proactiveness was exactly what I needed in that moment. I then went outside to get a bus to the hotel. The bus driver was the rudest person I met on my whole trip. I hadn't experienced anything like it. Telling me to hurry up, to move, rolling his eyes and throwing his hands in the air. A grown man who is giving all the signs that a temper tantrum was coming. So much so another woman on the bus sent me a sympathetic smile. Despite this I got a seat while I tried not to cry. Then I felt pissed, I was not impressed by his behaviour. Still I did chose to understand he must have been having a bad day. So when I got off the bus, I looked him in the eyes, and said in the kindest voice I could ‘Thank you, have a good day.’ The shock on his face was extraordinary. He switched up his behaviour and said ‘Oh… you too’ with a slight smile. A SLIGHT SMILE? A slight smile from the same man basically having a temper tantrum 10 minutes before. This is a long-winded way of saying we do affect each other. So it would also make sense that how I act towards myself would impact me too. Including how I speak to myself.

The Law Of Attraction indicates that positive thoughts and actions will send good things to you. I would also argue having positive thoughts and actions is showing up as the highest version of yourself. You are creating energy that is positive and aligns with opportunities, success and goals you want to achieve. So go ahead,  have positive thoughts and create the life you want. It sounds so simple, right? I wish, who knew having positive thoughts and actions was not the easiest of tasks? In theory, The Law of Attraction is great, however the process of believing we are worthy of good things can be difficult. Unfortunately it can be quite hard to believe you deserve love, to believe in yourself, and that you belong. Our world sometimes makes it hard for us to believe we are deserving. We know hurt people hurt people, it is evident from the multitude of hate comments we see on social media. Even if we aren’t receiving them, we notice them. It is also evident from the insecure people in high school, who made others feel insecure about themselves, or a parent who can not show up for some reason inside of them, but the kid feels the lack of presence. So sometimes when we get hurt from others it starts to impact how we feel about ourselves. We can logically understand the reason, but sometimes there are wounds buried that we didn’t know existed. One day you are reminded that how you feel about yourself for years wasn’t created from you. You understand now that you feel less because of how you were treated, not because it is the truth. Yet how are you meant to fight wounds that you don’t know exist or sometimes believe?

Not a professional here, but I think it is by noticing how you speak to yourself. You know intuitively that how you think about yourself impacts you. Positive thoughts = getting up, getting shit done. Negative thoughts= staying in bed all day, avoiding the world. Let the negative thoughts go. Not everything you think is true. As Michel A. Singer writes “You are not your thoughts. You are simply aware of your thoughts (Singer, 2007, pg 17) (For further reference; ‘The Unthread Soul’ (a confronting but brilliant read)). Observe and choose what thoughts you want to take into your day with you, but if for whatever reason one feels buried. Try to work out where it came from, it probably wasn’t your voice to begin with. Again, I am not saying it is easy. Though I will say it right here, you are deserving of love, because every single thing that exists is deserving of love. Love doesn’t come in scarcity, it is unlimited. So soak in the love, soak in as much as you want. Go ahead, and share it. Okay so now you know you're deserving of love, show up as a person who deserves love. How would they act, how would they receive? While you're at it, show up as a person who is also deserving of good things. You are deserving of good things, because through The Law Of Attraction the positivity you are creating within yourself, and sharing is a good thing. You are quite literally changing the world with how you show up. You created a space within yourself where you are deserving of love and good things. A space where others feel they can do the same. But most importantly you changed your world. As Mary Oliver would write “determined to save the only life you could save ”(Olivier, 1986).

You are not in control of the world, but you are in control of how you act, how you speak, and how you show up. So how do you want to show up in the world? How do you want your life to look? Act accordingly.
